Reference : Japanese legend has it that on the 7th of July, the day of "Tanabata Festival", Hikoboshi and Orihime have an annual tryst on the bridge upon the Milky Way, whose origin is from a Chinese legend. Tanabata legend goes like this ;
One day Orihime, a celestial princess, meets a guy from another bank of the Milky Way and they fall in love to get married. However they become too much in love as well as idle so that they are forced to be separated by the celestial king. Who sents Hikoboshi back to the another bank of the Milky Way. But because their love is too strong
eventually he gives a mercy on the couple to allow them to have an opportunity to meet each other for once a year providing skies be clear.
You can find them in the sky Orihime as Vega or "flying eagle", Hikoboshi as Altair or
"falling eagle" and the king as Pole Star. "Tanabata" means "the seventh day of the seventh month". But to be exact the date is under the lunar calendar so the tryst should take place in late August or early September.
